I was studying my child's mood the second they woke up, trying to figure out what version of the day we were about to have. When you are inside parenting every day, the details blur together. You remember the feeling, you don't always remember the pattern. LightMap showed me patterns I wasn't connecting before: sleep, transitions, overstimulation, certain environments, the buildup before the hard days. Things that looked random stopped feeling random, and that changed the way I responded to my children.

I just finished reading Taste Bud 17. I was able to learn how to communicate with my daughter when she's a little bit older and starts experiencing new sensory things, and maybe she'll find some things uncomfortable. But my favorite part of this book is when the tastebud actually is comforted by the fact that he realizes that everyone else around him has experienced the same thing as him. It's really sweet just to be able to put those things into language. Birch and Light is amazing.

My favorite part of the Birch and Light platform is the app that it comes with called LightMap. You can actually log your child's behaviors and follow the patterns. This app helps you figure out strategies and ideas of what you can do or what's possibly causing the behaviors in the first place and how to stop them before they even happen. The Birch and Light platform is a great tool to help parents and kids navigate these big behaviors and feelings.
