    Who it's for

Whatever it looks like in your house, it belongs here.

ADHD, autism, PDA, anxiety, OCD, ODD, DMDD, sensory differences, trauma, and PANS/PANDAS — including the kind with a medical root. And every child who feels everything more, with or without a name for it. Birch & Light was built for all of them.

    Where we fit

    The space between appointments.

Most families don’t move straight from everyday challenges to intensive care. Birch & Light sits in the in-between: real understanding, clear guidance, and tools you’ll actually use, right when you need them most.

From the people who work with kids

Birch & Light is built on the same principles I teach parents and educators every day. A gift to families.

    Rachel Wise, M.Ed., NCSP

Nationally Certified School Psychologist, Licensed Behavior Specialist, Parent Consultant, Mom of 2

    Founder, Education and Behavior

In my practice I see the same gap again and again. Parents misread dysregulation as defiance, lose confidence, and arrive at appointments without a clear picture of what has actually been happening at home. Structured, low-friction logging that surfaces triggers, patterns, and intensity over time is exactly the kind of information I wish I had when a family walks in.

    Carolyn Sluberski, MSOT, OTR/L

    Pediatric Occupational Therapist

    Formerly Children's Specialized Hospital

Birch & Light meets children where they are and gently builds emotional awareness, self-love, and self-regulation.

    Shari LaRosa, LCSW

Author of Ring Tail Raffi Mindfulness in Madagascar, and Enchanting the Sea With My ADHD, Mom of 2

    Mom's Choice Award winner

Tara has created something thoughtful, emotionally aware, and beautifully grounded in how children actually learn and connect. Birch & Light is a meaningful resource for families and classrooms alike.

    What changed at home

    5 out of 5 stars

I used LightMap for two weeks and it brought real awareness to things I was doing that were quietly making meltdowns worse. When I tried to console my daughter with hugs or kisses, she actually escalated. Seeing the pattern helped me stop that go-to, and the next time, things didn't spiral.

You can log your child's behaviors and follow the patterns. It helps you figure out what's possibly causing the behaviors in the first place and how to stop them before they even happen.

    Stephanie D.Parent, on LightMap
    5 out of 5 stars

I learned how to talk with my daughter about new sensory things she finds uncomfortable. My favorite part is when the taste bud realizes everyone around him has felt the same thing. It's sweet to be able to put those things into language.

    5 out of 5 stars

My daughter and I read The Princess and the Witch Inside, where she was feeling big feelings and discovered what was behind her storms and learned how to find her way back to herself.

Latoya G.Mom, reading with her daughter
    5 out of 5 stars

When I played the song “We Stay” for her, she stopped what she was doing and really listened. She wasn't distracted by things around her — she just smiled.

    Liz D.Parent, on the songs
    5 out of 5 stars

It reminded me that what looks like defiance is often a child trying to regulate or find calm in an overwhelming world. This story helped me see my children differently — not as problems to solve, but as people doing their best.

Joe O.Dad, on The Boy at the Edge
    5 out of 5 stars

I actually felt bad reading it because I know that sometimes I can be like that Dad. The message immediately convinced me of needing to be more patient and understanding of my kids' perspective.

Dan EngererDad, on The Boy at the Edge

A heartfelt and beautifully written story that pulls you in from the very first page. It's a touching, memorable read that stays with you long after you finish it.

Paul FerrantinoParent, on The Boy at the Edge Story Experience

I love that it has music, creative songs, creative stories. It also helps me track their behaviors... This is a really good tool to use if you are struggling or really feeling like you hit a rock with trying to help support your kiddos. Birch & Light is a game changer for my family.

Parents talking about it, in their own words

It helped me see the patterns underneath the behavior.

MaRanda Herring, PharmD, BCACP · Homeschool mom

LightMap showed me patterns I wasn't connecting before: sleep, transitions, overstimulation, certain environments, the buildup before the hard days. Things that looked random stopped feeling random, and that changed the way I responded to my children.

Shalee B. · Mom of five

    Paid partnership.

As a parent of a high-spirited child diagnosed with ADHD, I'm always interested in anything that helps me better understand his emotions and behaviors. You can log moments to track possible triggers, unlock insights, and find stories to read together with your child.

    Lydia · Mom of four

You can actually log your child's behaviors and follow the patterns. This app helps you figure out what's possibly causing the behaviors in the first place and how to stop them before they even happen.

Stephanie D. · Early Childhood Educator

I was able to learn how to communicate with my daughter when she starts experiencing new sensory things. My favorite part is when the taste bud realizes everyone else around him has experienced the same thing.

    Before you decide

    Questions parents ask us first.

Is this just another parenting app with generic advice?

No. Most advice is written for a child you don't have. Birch & Light starts with your child: you log the hard moments, and what you get back is built on your own child's patterns, not a generic script.

    Is my child's data private?

Your data stays in your account. Nothing is sold and nothing is public. It is shared only when you share it, which happens two ways: sending a report to someone on your care team, or inviting a co-parent, caregiver, or provider to your child's LightMap. You control that access and can remove it at any time. LightMap runs on Supabase, an established managed database platform, and every connection is encrypted.

    Is this replacing therapy?

No. Birch & Light is designed to complement, never replace, therapy or medical care. It is built for the stretch between appointments. Rather than reconstructing six weeks from memory in a waiting room, you can bring a dated record of what actually happened at home: the triggers, how often, how intense, and what helped. The reports are made to hand to the professionals you already trust.

How much does Birch & Light cost?
