    Birch & Light

    A children's story property

Birch & Light is an original children's story property designed to help kids navigate big emotions and help parents reconnect after moments of rupture. It lives at the intersection of children's literature, emotional wellness, and family storytelling, without moralizing, labeling, or prescribing behavior.

The stories are written for children but built with adults in mind. They assume kids are doing the best they can with the nervous systems they have, and that parents are human too.

What Makes Birch & Light Different

Birch & Light does not teach lessons or reward compliance. It focuses on understanding before correction, curiosity before control, and repair instead of punishment. Emotional regulation is treated as something that develops through safety, repetition, and relationship, not rules.

The tone is calm, warm, and emotionally literate, avoiding both didactic SEL language and ironic humor.

These are comfort re-reads families come back to.

    The Structure

Birch & Light is intentionally built as a cohesive system rather than a single standalone title.

    Anchor Story

The Princess and the Witch Inside introduces the emotional framework of Birch & Light. Esme, a young princess with big feelings, begins to feel stuck in her quiet room until a friend and an angel help her understand that the "witch" inside is not an enemy, just an old way of coping she can learn to let go. This story establishes the tone, worldview, and language of the property.

    Core Characters & Emotional Pillars

Additional books introduce repeatable emotional situations children encounter again and again, including overwhelm, sensory regulation, curiosity versus defiance, anxiety, and presence. Each story reflects a distinct nervous system state while remaining grounded in everyday family dynamics.

    Supporting Expressions

Birch & Light also includes original songs and parent-facing insights that extend the emotional themes without turning the property into a curriculum. Audio and written guidance are designed to support connection rather than instruction.

    Audience

    Best suited for ages 3–12

Secondary audience: parents, caregivers, and educators seeking emotionally intelligent storytelling without shame or rigidity.

The books function as read-alouds, quiet independent reading, and conversation starters.

    Expansion Potential

Birch & Light is designed to grow across formats without losing coherence. Potential extensions include additional books centered on core emotional states, audio and music tied to regulation and daily rhythms, classroom and home discussion tools, and physical companions that support calm and presence.

Expansion is intended to feel organic and supportive, not franchised or noisy.

    Current Status

Multiple manuscripts are complete, including a defined anchor story and a small set of core characters. Visual direction is established but not locked, allowing for collaboration with the right publishing and development partners.

The creator is seeking representation to help place, package, and protect Birch & Light as a cohesive property rather than a single title, with an emphasis on fit, tone, and long-term integrity.

Full manuscripts and additional materials are available upon request.
